Dear All…I hope you have all had a good Easter and are ready for the rest of the coming term! There is plenty to look forward to and lots of work to do.
Please assume that any part of the Brahms will be rehearsed for the next two weeks - and this week we will also aim to get the Lux Aterna of the Venables learnt. I strongly urge you to do as much listening to the Venables as possible. To get into the sound world of a composer is a useful way into negotiating the music we are learning/performing. Also..as Kevern has already mentioned in his latest email, the rehearsal on the day of the concert is 4.30pm at Malvern Priory.I realise this is at the end of a working day for some of you and if you are able to negotiate an early exit to attend I would be very grateful. We should finish no later than 6pm with the concert at 7.30pm. The first half will worth listening to and you should have automatic entry to listen if you wish to.
I am expecting my head of department at the RWCMD (Andrea Brown) to be attending this week or next. She managed to break her toe and spent a number of hours in a&e the night before her last intended visit. I will keep you all updated on this as and when.
Carole and Judith will have a new set of music for you to collect this week as well. To save as much time for rehearsal as possible, please pick it up at the end of the evening as we will not be looking at anything in the set until after the Brahms concert.
I am very much looking forward to performing the Brahms! I have a rehearsal with Nic Freestone and Robin this coming Thursday morning and all preparations for the concert day are almost completed.
See you soon.
Stephen
